A congress session, a first contact at a trade fair stand and a price negotiation each call for a different mode of interpreting. Consecutive or whispered interpreting suits sessions, while one-to-one consecutive interpreting between the parties is preferred in negotiations; the choice is made together before the event.
Experience gained at international congresses organised by public institutions, in on-site and commercial meetings of industrial companies and during international delegation visits allows protocol, terminology and timing requirements to be planned from the outset.
Before the event, terminology is prepared from the programme, speaker presentations and product information. In negotiation meetings, the points agreed are recorded in a written summary at the end of the meeting.
